About Mrs. Martin
I grew up on the East Side of the Sierras in Gardnerville, Nevada. I graduated with honors from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in Conservation and Resource Studies. Yosemite National Park became my home for three years while I worked as a naturalist for Yosemite Institute. During my teaching career I have taught elementary, middle school, and high school science, and held various positions at the elementary level. Glenshire has been my teaching home for eight years. I love the community atmosphere of Glenshire Elementary and feel fortunate that my own two daughters can attend this outstanding school.
I recently finished my Master's Degree in Gifted Education at the University of Connecticut. I am excited to apply this knowledge in my new role this year as Lead Teacher for Accelerated Services at Glenshire Elementary. This new position at Glenshire is part of the Accelerated Learning Services pilot program for Glenshire and Alder Creek Middle School. I am looking forward to supporting our teachers and students this year to ensure that all students achieve continuous academic progress and reach their potential.
When I am not working on this website, gathering new resources for teaching, planning new lessons, teaching, working on my graduate studies, or reading professionally .....I love to hang out with my wonderful family, read for pleasure, create beautiful flower gardens, swim in our gorgeous lakes, run and mountain bike awesome single-track, or ski once the snow flies.
I wake up each morning excited about the work I do and grateful to live in one of the most beautiful places on our planet!
